On 01.13.2012, the Costa Concordia ship with Commander Francesco Schettino sank near Giglio Island (GR).
It was about 9:45 p.m. when the ship impacted the rock of the scole with its port side, resulting in a leak of about 70 meters in length.
1 hour and 20 minutes after the impact, the ship proceeding adrift lay on the seabed of the tip of Gabbianara with a final inclination on the starboard side of about 80°.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Grosseto carried out investigations and entered Commander Francesco Schettino and others in the register of suspects.
Attorney Prof. Eraldo Stefani was nominated defense Attorney by Fehrer Robert, born in Budapest, brother of Feher Sandor, a violinist who was part of the orchestra that died when the ship sank.
With the granting of the defense mandate, the firm immediately began the activity of defense investigation.
Underwater investigation carried out under the wreck of the Costa Concordia, important evidence emerged regarding the dynamics of the maneuver actually put in place by Commander Schettino, in the moments immediately close to the impact with the rock.
The discovery of the two anchors with the chains rolled up showed that the anchors had not worked and without plowed the seabed.
This was one of the most important documentary evidence under Article 234 of the Code of Criminal Procedure produced during the Judgment.
